CANES LUNCH IN THE LIBRARY

Monday and Tuesday are CanesCreate days in the library! Activities will be set up for you to participate in and may involve wearable technology, take-apart tech, squishy circuits, reconstructed fashion, and Breakout sessions. Let me or Ms Squires know if there is anything you'd like to do! (Remember - no food in the library!)

Want to make a Stikbot video? There's an app for that! If you're nice, Ms Jen might even let you use an iPad Mini. We have the studio and 4 Stikbots. What can you create?

The Perler Bead activity ended up being so popular that we carried it over for an entire week & will be pulling it out again soon!  Students made Pokeballs, Diamond Swords, keychains, pins, & all sorts of other things with Perler Beads.  Lots of fun!

Here are some of the things you can do at the library during Canes Lunch:

Make a stop-motion video with Play-Doh, drawings, Lego figures, or Stikbots
Put together a metal insect, a model of The Alamo, or a solar car
Make a poster or shadow box for a class assignment
Experiment with electronic circuitry
Play games with your friends (Uno, Set, Cranium, Funglish & Clue are just a few we have)
Get help with databases or citations
Explore a subject you are curious about
Make a key chain or magnet with Perler Beads
Read!

Program electronics with
Little Bits + Arduino!

We have a Little Bits Arduino Starter Bundle and Gizmos and Gadgets Set. These are available during Canes Lunch for a single student or small group to tinker with.  There will be a sign-up sheet in the library to reserve your time with the Arduino Kit.  More Little Bits pieces will be added to our collection, so let Ms Baker know what you would like to add!

Canes Creation Center Rules:

Take care of our materials by reusing whenever possible, putting things away when you are through and letting Ms Baker know if something is broken or used up.

Try to figure things out for yourself; experiment; iterate; ask a peer. Ms Baker is here for facilitation, not instruction.

Encourage one another. If someone is struggling, ask if they want help.

Challenge yourself.

Be respectful of the public library patrons, staff, and other students.
